Geddes Federal Savings recently gave a generous $30,000 dollar grant to A Tiny Home for Good. This money will support the construction of a new home in 2020. On average, one home costs $30-32 to build between materials, construction and utilities.  Every dollar goes a long way for A Tiny Home for Good, helping in their mission to end homelessness in Syracuse. This partnership is the beginning of an exciting friendship between Geddes Federal Savings and A Tiny Home for Good.

For Geddes, giving to nonprofits such as A Tiny Home for Good can promote economic growth and produce a higher community renewal score. Although Geddes is mandated to give some money away, the choice of which nonprofit falls on the shoulders of the board of directors. Jeanne Matthews-Fox, the Senior Vice President of Geddes, stated, “our Board of Directors felt strongly that helping to provide a “home” for those in need, particularly homeless veterans, was an excellent way to show our support and commitment to the community we serve.” Geddes is excited to create this partnership, as Matthews-Fox comments, “Geddes Federal Savings will benefit by helping our local community enhance its economic growth, while raising awareness of the Tiny Homes for Good mission and building new business partnerships.”

A Tiny Home for Good is incredibly grateful and is excited about what this grant means for the growth of the non-profit. The executive director, Andrew Lunetta comments that he is “hopeful that Geddes's example may encourage other financial institutions to consider investing in our work as well.”. Thanks to the generosity of Geddes, another homeless resident of Syracuse will have a roof over their head and a warm bed to sleep in.
